Dungeons, or Gates, are the heart of the Solo Leveling Reawakening experience. Clearing them is how you’ll get the XP, items, and power you need to become a high-rank Hunter. This guide breaks down how Gates work and provides strategies for the first dungeons and bosses you’ll encounter.

How Gates Work & Dungeon Breaks Explained
As you explore your world, a message will occasionally appear in chat: “A portal will appear at <<coordinates>>, it will disappear in 4 days”.
This is a Gate. You have four in-game days to find it, enter, and defeat the boss inside.
What is a Dungeon Break? If you fail to clear the dungeon before the timer runs out, a Dungeon Break will occur. This means all the monsters inside will escape and start attacking the area around the portal. It’s crucial to clear Gates as soon as you find them to prevent this. Early in the game, you’ll mostly encounter blue portals.
Dungeon Guide: Goblin Ravager’s Nest
This is the first dungeon you’ll likely encounter. It’s a Threat Level D dungeon and a great place to get your first levels and loot.
- Mobs Inside: You will fight four types of enemies: Goblins, Goblin Archers, Goblin Mages, and Undead Knights.
Boss Guide: The Goblin King
At the end of the Goblin Ravager’s Nest, you will face the Goblin King. He hits much harder than the regular goblins and can be dangerous if you don’t have decent armor.
- Pro-Tip / Strategy: The boss room is large, which gives him space to use his abilities. To make the fight easier, lure the Goblin King into one of the small tunnels that lead into his room. His attacks are much less effective there, giving you a huge advantage.
Dungeon Guide: Subway Instance
This is often the second unique dungeon you’ll tackle, and it requires a special key to enter.
- How to Enter: You need an Instance Key. The entrance to the dungeon, the Instance Subway Station, can be found in Jungle or Birch biomes.
- Threat Level: This is also a Threat Level D dungeon.
- Mobs Inside: You’ll face Goblins, Goblin Archers, Goblin Mages, and the more dangerous Steel Fanged Lycans.
Boss Guide: Venom Fanged Kasaka
The final boss of the Subway Instance is the giant snake, Venom Fanged Kasaka. The fight is relatively simple, but there’s one critical trick you need to know.
- Pro-Tip / Strategy: Kasaka’s visual model is much larger than its actual hitbox. You must attack the center of its body. Hitting its head or tail will do no damage. If you’re having trouble, you can press F3 + B to see the exact hitbox outline.
What is the Punishment Zone? (And How to Survive It)
The Punishment Zone is a special dimension you are sent to if you fail to complete your Daily Quest in time. You will be trapped there for a random amount of time (between 100 and 600 seconds).
The zone is home to a single, very powerful boss called the Poison-Fanged Centipede. This boss is fast, deadly, and will likely one-shot a new player.
- The Best Strategy: Just run. You do not have to fight the Centipede. The reward for simply surviving the timer is exactly the same as the reward for killing it. For new players, the safest and best strategy is to simply run away until the timer expires.
